2024/5 Day Skipper theory
A comprehensive introduction for sail and powerboaters. Essential for the Day Skipper practical course. No experience needed. Over 2 long weekends at Holywood Yacht Club, Belfast.
Cost:£295 (€345) and includes £50 RYA Pack of charts, exercises and almanac. 3 stage payments. First payment £95/€115. That's all you need to join the course then 2 stage Payments of £100 (€115)

Course 1 Fri to Sun, 20 to 22 Sept & 4 to 6 Oct 2024 OR
Course 2 Fri to Sun, 7 to 9 March & 21 to 23 March 2025
Fri 6 to 9; Sat 9 to 7 Sun 9 to 4 Sun.
17 Course topics including:
- construction, parts and equipment
- safety equipment, procedures, distress
- coastal navigation, position fixing and pilotage
- chartwork and electronic charts
- weather forecasting and meteorology
- tides and tidal streams
- collision regulations
The course helps to provide an excellent knowledge base before attending a practical Day Skipper course.
2025 Yachtmaster theory
After Day Skipper theory prepare for more advanced power or sail practical courses eg Coastal Skipper or yachtmaster. Over 3 long weekends at Holywood Yacht Club, Belfast
Cost: £345/€395 and includes £50 RYA Pack of charts, exercises and almanac. 3 stage payments. First instalment £145/€195 and that's all you need to join the course then 2 stage payments £100 (€100)
Course date/ time: 3 weekends Fri to Sun 10 to 12 and 24 to 26 Jan and 7 to 9 Feb
Fri 6 to 9; Sat 9 to 7 Sun 9 to 4 Sun.

- Advanced navigation, position fixing, Pilotage, Passage Planning
- Compass with deviation
- Tides/ tidal streams, secondary ports, time zones
